Everything sounds great. I honestly think it will bring some *constructive* life back to MMB. It's true that the flames fuel posters... but it's taken away from the constructive sides of the forums because everyone is throwing their energy into the flames.

I'm sure everyone knows how I'm going to comment. Although I think almost all of my posts on this message board have been flames, they've always been constructive. Constructive criticism is essential to others growing as individuals, or something. Basically, when you call someone a noob for saying "use keyring n", you're just being honest. Later on, he specified what he was getting at, and people were able to solve his problem. If we were to candy coat this crap and say, "oh, what an intelligent question, but I don't know what the fuck you are talking about", nothing would have been solved. After a few comments of slander were posted, the person then specified what the problem was, understanding that what he posted earlier made entirely no sense. If people take forum flames seriously enough where they won't post, that's pretty sad. If you post a valid comment, it will be answered. Constructive criticism will entail as well, but it may help target the problem by weeding through the BS. I obviously know I'm a minority in this, but I do agree without an area to vent, or if you have very strict rules, you will lose much activity, giving people less of a reason to check MMB. Whenever I get on here, there's at least 3-5 people viewing hall of flames. Sounds like a successful forum to me..

constructive critisism is a good thing and is needed. but you don't have to "candy coat" it to get your point across. using your example, your reply to the "use keyring n" could have simple been, "dude, the command is use keyring. that will create keys in your inventory." not candy coated and the question is answered. maybe what we will do is leave the flame forum there now that the new/daily search results are not showing those threads.

another soon to be deleted post
When that's the only thing you can think of to say, then it should be deleted
i'm confused shaddow. you voted yes to the poll, but then quoted me explaining why we are and will be different than metro's forums only to say that we will be a copy of metro's forums? what is your actual opinion?
You shouldn't say who voted for what, that's just not cool. I voted yes because I've been coming here for a couple years for a reason, and that reason just isn't there anymore. <--- the "on topic" part of this thread :yeah:
I can say what I voted because it was MY vote.
You're the shit Syn, and I'm not Pan's biggest fan, but posting what he voted just isn't cool.
edit: unless he said what he was voting for, I didn't look because I don't have time to re-read everything I read earlier, and I do enough babysitting stupid people at work. Which is another reason I voted the way I did.

This is an open poll, you can see who voted what by clicking on the numbers to the right of the poll.

it is an open poll. click the numbers for the results and it will show who voted for what. i do it this way for two reasons: one, there is no reason to hide it since we aren't voting on something that would effect anyone personally. and secondly, it stops morons from claiming the poll counts were edited.

i think most people would rather seldom constructive posting over flame fests. hopefully the knowledge of knowing you can post something without being made fun of will encourage more people to post. the fact that you can make that comment and i can't say you're wrong proves that this is a problem that needs to be addressed.
I agree, and I have voted yes to this poll. I created that Erek poll because I was sick of his flaming me and other users, but it has turned me into a flamer myself.
Yes I would like this forum to be more constructive and intelligent, but what happens when someone asks a question, and someone calls them an idiot? A fag? I see this on forums everywhere. People should be constructive and help eachother out and not insult them.
I joined these forums for help with editing, and to help others where if I could. Not to try to eradicate stupid people from it.
I will hush now, and let the mods do their job. But I think syntax is right, and anyone that doesnt think so, must have a reason, perhaps flamming and crapping are fun to you? Do it someplace else.

Bottem line that has brought us MOD's to is this: All of you who do nothing but flame and put people down, you are the reasons these rules are being put into place. If you could have kept it all on an even keel things may have been different, but you go on your jubilent little childish flame rants in every post. (WITHIN REASON, BLATENT FLAMING IN HERE WILL BE DELETED IMMEDIATLY!)
I didnt do it. :P I do agree with Syntax, iNViSiGOD and all the forum nazi's. :biggrin2: All the crapping has to go. I for one would be more active in the threads . I have personally wanted to set up a BBS to work some ideas out for the game but kinda shy away from it since all I seem to see is insults on how we are not smart. As to how often I check these forums. MMB is my set home page so I tend to check here many times a day.

nip the flames in the ass, and delete the offensive posts that are made in general, but to remove hall of flames, because the mods dont like it, because that is the only area that is getting 100% attention is like turning MMB into Mudforums. Hell even on my forum I have the Hall of Flames, however I have them setup as to not to add to the post count. Have no one moderate them, let the hall of flame sit as anything goes. However when the bullshit & flames happen outside the hall of flames, then delete the offensive posts. If the person cannot abide by the rules, then he/she gets restricted to "you can look but not post" failing that, then outright ban the IP.
unban DragonDawn. I Still dont terribly like the guy, BUT He wasn't put on restricted access, he was just banned. When I pissed off Admiral Acid, I was placed in a restricted account for 2 weeks.
Last, in reallity I dont give a shit, I haven't got time to visit here serveral times a day to really give enough of a damn.
People still complain when I make the odd post, And when I do ask questions, I get bullshit answers. So I wont post anything logical, or valid anymore, I'll just post bullshit.
