When people kill me, I only think 2 things, Fuck I lost my gear, now I'mma have to find new shit now, and Now I gotta get better, and win next time.

my problem, and i know a lot of others too, is the time we have to devote to actually *playing* the game is very minimal. when i die, i feel like quitting because i don't have the time to get all my shit back. it's not that i don't want to or don't feel like it, i just don't have the time. that's where scripting actually plays a good role for majormud. it allows all people to have a somewhat equal ground as far as competitveness in levels and exp gain no matter how much "at keys" time you can devote.

Pvp should be a part of every bbs. Really, if you dont like it, dont script. The game is meant to be a type of virtual reality. Like D&D, in D&D you can attack anyone, any time, any place. Thats exactly how I think it should be. I personally think that 100 level pvp is best, because there's nothing I hate more than people talking shit because you cant do nothing about it. When people kill me, I only think 2 things, Fuck I lost my gear, now I'mma have to find new shit now, and Now I gotta get better, and win next time. Higher levels usually dont attack lowbies...They have nothing you MIGHT even want, and newbies dont usually talk too much shit. If they do, they DESERVE to die. There ya go, all u pvp hata's need to get real Pvp isnt THAT bad.

This is the days of telnet, not dialup. People don't pay for their accounts. Look at Damage Inc, for example. If you gave them a 100 level pvp board, and they started on it first and got somewhat ahead, whenever they felt like it they'd just go through and kill every single person on the board. The same goes for other people who get bored. The level 50s just walk around lower level areas and kill people for the fuck of it, it's not balanced. Your statement might have held up in dialup days when shit cost money and it wasn't level 1-50 in a month or two.

Also, how many damn times do we have to relay the fact that pvp is an OPTION in the game, it is NOT a PART of the game. If it were a part of the game, there would not be an option to turn it off. How difficult is this to understand? Now, you say 'should' be a part of every bbs. Well, that's your opinion. You stick to those boards, while people who don't want to pvp will stick to theirs. This is a constant struggle between people who do wanna pvp and people who don't, which can be solved if you all just fucking quit trying to play on boards with rules that go against the way you enjoy playing.

If you want a pvp board, play a pvp board. If you want a non pvp board, play a non pvp board.

Either way, its the sysops board, you don't pay for it, so if its a pvp board and goes to no pvp (or vice versa), too effing bad. It's their choice, their board, their equipment, their line, they're God.

Right on everyone. Good debate. PVP is not part of the game, as it is an option. PVP must be restricted. Not everyone likes PVP, because certain individuals attack scripts, steal dp's, and make you feel like quitting(been there). Those people don't care if we band together, killing all thier scripts and taking thier stuff, because they will just go buy a little crappy eq, and go kill our scripts again, right? I agree with speed tho. Its the sysops decision, and if the pvp is restricted further, and you have a problem with it, there are plenty of boards. If you PVPers would lay off the people who just want to play the game, and PVP with other PVPers, nobody would have this problem in the first place. Be "polite."

Be "polite."

That's what it all boils down to.

Now if you could just enforce that in the code... yeah right. There are the decent ppl that play, and then there are the assholes. The assholes are easy to spot, they're the ones talking MAD shit once they log on, or they're off killing someone's script (usually don't hit live players), or they're levelling up/getting gear to be a general nuisance.

These are the players that do nothing worthwhile but do what they can to limit everyone else down as much as they can so they can get ahead faster. Most of the "decent" players usually just pull in the race, every once in awhile pvp someone while they are live (annoyance or not, when you're live it's a whole new ballgame), and generally play the game in a way that can be overall beneficial to everyone on the board. (Gang wars non-withstanding, but it still adds the "fun" factor, besides you're in the gang you can leave and exit that war)

The assholes are the players who do whatever they can to bring someone else down and/or destroy the fun factor for anyone else so they can get a quick jizz from killing someone or pissing them off.

I believe in restricting PvP levels but I think 5 is too low. I personally though 10 was decent but I guess I maybe 7 would do?

5 levels is too small because being a gang leader, there are times when I have to get "into the thick of it" and its hard to protect my gang if I am not able to attack the lower people in the other gang who are attacking my gang members. Confusing? PvP usually is.

EPS is fine. The only reason I haven't gone evil yet is because I'm trying to finish my quests first. etc etc.

Still without PvP, the realm gets boring real quick.

For you. Not for other people, like me. My days of PvP stopped when telnet became widespread. I've PvP'd a thousand times since then, but never once have I gotten the same effect or been able to use the same edges as if I were on dialup. The half second pause I get from telnet destroys the edge and doesn't make it fun imho.

I understand you joined Morbid before the PvP level was lowered, so I'm not gonna say you shouldn't have joined or say you should go somewhere else. It's just an annoyance factor for people like me. Shrug, there will never be an end to this -- there are people who want pvp and people who don't. I guess you're on the right track with compromisation.
