I hear Alaska is great - you can have up to 99 plants growing, but if you go over 99, you get busted. You can't legally sell it there, but you can give it as a gift, and later recieve a loan from the recipient. Not to mention the dividends from oil you get yearly for every member of your household..

you sure about that? even if it is true, that doesn't make it completely legal. since marijuana is, by federal law, illegal, that overrides state laws. IE: even though in california you can use ganj for medical purposes, the feds can still snatch it out of your hands and give you a fine when you pick it up.

So many rumors floating around about it. Syntax is 100% correct. The federal ruling is that it is illegal. You may not grow in Alaska. There is no state law that says such. Everyone likes to spread little falsehoods here and there because their friend told them, or they saw it in a magazine/website.

You can not grow or smoke in Alaska. You can not grow or smoke in any of the other 49 states. You may smoke medically in California, and yes, the feds do have the right to give you a ticket and stuff, but they have better things to do and there has never been such occurance.

You can not give marijuana as a gift in any state. There is no distinction between "giving" and "selling" in laws. The laws state "distribution" - which is why when you get busted with over (insert state law here) grams, you get a ticket/fine/jailtime for "Possession with the intent to DISTRIBUTE." Alaska is very close to the Canada border, which is where I assume this rumor came from.

Why do you think there was such a big fuss over the Nevada ruling? Nevada would have been the state with the most lax marijuana laws. In no state is it legal to grow, give, sell, distribute, or possess any amount of marijuana (except for medical in cali). The kicker is, it is not illegal to smoke. You can be fucked up in your own house and the cops can't do anything about it, unless you have some sort of smoking device and/or some marijuana on you. As long as you don't go outside (inebriated in public), drive a car (driving under the influence), operate heavy machinery (dui again), or smoke in sight of someone, you can't get in trouble as long as you leave no evidence behind.

Ok, I just heard this "rumor" from someone who just moved FROM Alaska. Seems rather strange that they'd lie to me, and rather strange that they'd have their facts wrong after living there for the last 10 years, but hey, stranger things have happened. If it is a rumor, then my bad. Not like it matters, I'm not about to move to Alaska..

I suggest you read up a little bit before you believe your friends. I will admit though, I was wrong.

Possession of less than 25 plants is protected under the Alaska Constitution’s right to privacy (See Ravin v. Alaska). Possession of 25 or more marijuana plants is “Misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree” and is punishable by a fine of up to $50,000 or five years in prison.

Your house can not get raided or anything like that if you have less than 25 plants. They can tell this by a simple heat sensor by driving past your apartment/house. Helicopters can also sense a large degree of heat. It's all modern technology. Most of the time, they won't do anything since you could have a bad ass server room or something, but they do have ways of telling if you are growing. That's why you should always have a cooling mechanism between your mylar (or whatever you are using to keep heat and moisture in) and your wall.

Now, before you go thinking you can grow in Alaska, let me keep you informed of two funny parts of that law. -None- of your 25 plants may be permitted to bud. Also, "Maintaining any structure or dwelling, including vehicles, to use for keeping and distributing marijuana, is a felony offense and punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000."

Damn Speed.

Let's go camp on the White House lawn and protest the Federal law against it.

By that time, Iraq will be in ruins and you, War Hawk, and myself can move and live out our plan.

How about we skip the protest and just wait for Iraq to burn, while we burn one? Cause I mean we're not exactly gonna be able to smoke in front of the white house, ya know?

If he was any kind of a president, he'd be out there packing us a few bong hits of his presidential stash.

I apologize. Never will I open my mouth before fully researching the subject. Jesus Christ I've never felt so lectured - good job Speed.. Hehe.. I felt like I was in court already. So my friend was telling a half-truth, but I see they have a loophole for smacking you down even though the 25 plant thing suggests leniency.
