squaresoft is the american square, square is a japanese corporation whereas squaresoft i believe does most of the translating and changing for the american versions

So, there are two completely different companies, that do the exact same games? Why would they have two entirely seperate entities? I understand one creates the games and one translates and stuff like that, I just don't see why they would make them two companies. Obviously they aren't too seperate. I still don't consider that two companies.
