LOL Reckless. Totally. MrBlack.. hope you got other plans for that day. :D
As for the book.. yeah, that's a good book, but for a beginner, I'd probably suggest a smaller book that talks about the game and general strategies. There are many "for beginner" books if you go look at a bookstore.

Re: Chess
Modern Chess Openings are good for just what they say..
Openings. You need books that will help you with stradegy, middlegame, and most important, endings.
For a beginner, try books by Bruce Pandafifin (I mispelled his name i know) His books are totally based on learning the game.
After that your going to have to figure out what kinda of openings do you prefer for white.
Then you have to figure out what opening you want to play for black.
Then after youve learned one or two openings for white and black, your going to have to find books that will improve your midgame.
Then you have to find books that are just for endgames so you know how to finish the game.
Theres a reason why playing chess seriously takes along time to learn, People know what they are doing 5-10 sometimes 15 moves ahead.
For fun, just learn the basics from Bruce and a few openings...Then just find some books to read, it will come to you naturally though you might suck still hehe
Oh, Rust..
He had a chance to win but it was a small chance so he decided not to risk a chance of loosing a draw

Re: Chess
It's not that he didn't wanna risk the game. He had a real good chance to win, but hurried a move, and had to settle for a draw by perpertual check. He said so himself:
24...e4 25.Rxc2 Qa1+
This is a mistake. I thought I was winning by force and went for this variation. The correct way was 25...f4!, since after 26.Nf1 e3 27.Re2 exf2+ 28.Rxf2 Nd3 Black is in full command, White has no other choice than the line 27.Nxe3 Bf5! 28.Rc1 Qb2 29.Rd1 fxe3 30.Qxe3 Bd3 and Black should convert his advantage. After the move made, White escapes.
Oh well.. so far Kasparov has been outplaying the computer in both games. I'm sure third game tommorow will be played in a similar manner. Espesially since Kasparov will be white again, which gives him a slight edge right away.

Re: Chess
He plays the Sicillian, Najdorf variation. (not sure on the spelling). But generally it's just called the sicillian, and that's what he plays.
And, I believe he'll have a big advantage with white. He's better with black against humans. With white, he can do a wierd opening and force the computer into making a mistake. It worked in game 1. He strayed from the regular line and destroyed the computer.

Re: Chess
If you open with c5 (which he did), it's counts as playing the sicillian. But yeah, in this game he strayed from his usual variation, and went for a less common one. In fact, after 7-8 moves, there was only 1 tournament game ever played that had that exact same position.. Which is really rare, given that the database had hundreds of thousands of games, if not millions.
