hell yeah he is - i better watch my mouth so he does some hexin for me someday....
Re: I just had this idea..
Just make a portal area that is safe rooms and rid people of sys goto's... check out my board... thats what I did :)
Re: I just had this idea..
Your Idea won't work.
It's a good idea, sounds like it would be nice..
But it wouldn't work.
When people PvP, it's usually in a town. IE - You can sys goto that town.
After fighting and someone dies, you STILL CAN'T SYS GOTO, but they can sys back to the town, get their EQ, and beat on your half-dead ass.
If you sys out, even after they die, you still have the flag and would get toasted for sysing. This means, the first time you PvP, you've practically lost sys gotos until you die...and actually since it's an "ability", the ability will stay with you until it's over-written, which wouldn't be hard to do, but if not done, that would mean every time after PvP that you sys, whether you died or not, you would die. Again, that's easily preventable.
All in all, it's a good idea, a good enough idea to work on, if it wasn't so much trouble to do.
I just asume disable PvP then go through and do all that bullshit, no offense, but that's way too much work.
Oh yeah...
And..
If by chance you didn't have the ability disabled after dying once, which you would have to make something to do it, it won't do it automatically, you would CONTINUOUSLY die and be rerolled.
You would die in PvP and land in HOD, landing in HOD would set off the trigger and you would die again, you would land in HOD again and die again, etc, etc, etc.
Rerolling for sysing out of PvP is lame...if the people PvPing were smart, they'd have friends or extra accounts sitting at every sys goto point to see if someone sys'd out, cap it, send it to the sysop, and the sysop could disable sys goto's from that person.
This has worked on numerous BBS's I've played on, however much people may not like it, it makes them realize that sysing out of PvP is a No-No, and it would require about no work compared to the other idea.
I know having someone at every sys point would be a pain in the ass, but you can tell if someone sys's out or not..well people who PvP can, if not they shouldn't be that worried about it.
The only time you hear anyone bitching about people sysing out is when they can PROVE the person sys'd out, hence my disabling of sys goto's idea would work very nicely.
Don't take offense. Honestly, I haven't got a damn clue what the hell I just said.
Really, I don't know what I just said, I'm not yankin yer chain, I know what I was responding to, but it took me a while to write this with many interuptions on AIM and whatnot (not that I'm mad that people IM'd me, posting big like this you just expect that) so uh..
Fuck..I don't even know what I was just talking about..I gotta go..heh

Re: I just had this idea..
never say it's too much work. if you can iron out the details, i could easily make something in NMR that would add a spell/abillty/etc to every item and do all sorts of other stuff.
Re: I just had this idea..
Ahh, that's true..
I just kind of feel bad for asking you to do so much, I'm sure you get a lot of ideas to try and work into things already.
Here's another quick one tho, make an instant-remove alignment requirement from items and spells, spells isn't as important but I constantly find an item that I feel like smacking metro for aligning because half my eq is this align and the other half that would just make it perfect is another align..=P
But uh..
I guess the idea above (not mine) is possible, but it sounds like it would have a lot of bugs and be a huge trial-and-error process, even with you being able to do that, it would be a lot of work still to get it right.
I mean, you might be able to get it right on the first try, you people are geniuses and make me feel like a pre-K/Head Start kid with the shit ya do..
I know if I tried I'd pull all my hair out eventually.

Re: I just had this idea..
Alas, another error, if I am correct, which I don't know if I am. Just pointing this out.
1: How often do room spells cast? If they cast once a round, that gives someone a pretty large gap to be able to sys goto sil and go up.
2: Also, if I were in PvP with someone who I didn't want to fight, and I were pussy enough to sys out, I wouldn't care if I died at sil. I'd sys goto, die, macro my gear, and be on my merry way. It's only one life, what's that gonna do.
3: Plus, if it will reroll you in some chance, I wouldn't play on the board, because shit happens, and I wouldn't want to be sitting in rhudaur and just die all of a sudden because I hit "a plat" instead of "a monk"... ya know?
4: A L S O - If you make a flag, so that I walk into the sys room, and lose my flag to die when I sys goto, if I'm fighting in rhudaur, khaz, or LC, I can walk into the room, my flag is gone, and sys out.
I'll let you know if I think of more things that wouldn't work with it.

Re: I just had this idea..
The portal idea isn't bad at all. The only way to prevent people from abusing something is to either play with nothing but the most honorable people (get real) or to not allow it. Room spells are cast once a round, but if you cast one in pvp then you're stuck for 5-10 seconds? I forget how long the penalty is. And if someone engages you, I believe you're stuck as well.
Re: I just had this idea..
You know what, on boards that allow mulitple accounts, or ones that don't and you have buddies... have all the sys goto points cast a room spell like the vortexes with the adddelay flag or whatever it is (i dunno i removed em from my vortexes) so they can't run. so whoever is lying in wait can beat the shit out of em. that'll teach em to sys out. much easier.
Re: I just had this idea..
And what about the people who script rhudaur? When they hit that first entrance room, are they supposed to suffer with a lag time?
