So I took a look at the new xbox i got and the tray looks like its a benq cdrom.

My question now is.. is it possible to buy a toshiba/samsung cdrom online and put it in my newer xbox? Any ideas on this one Ray?

After doing some research, I DID end up finding the samsung drives on ebay for sale for $40us but because the drives are married to the motherboard it may require a lot more effort to replace them. I emailed the company to see if this means soldering or not because as we know from previous posts i suck at that shit.

SO i am thinking a solderless modchip might be the way to go. I first need to find out which version xbox i have to see if the solderless chips will even work on it.

I would trade it in for an older one but I do like the fact that its hdmi and the benq drive is almost silent compared to (or so i have heard) older samsung drives.
