I won't be going to Canada or off to war. :D They can't draft me, unless it gets to the point of fighting to recapture part of the homeland. I really don't forsee that happening.

America is right in this matter. History will ultimately prove this.

Once we liberate Iraq and establish a working, cohesive government that represents ALL Iraqis, then everyone will see that this war was necessary.

If by "liberating" them, do you mean killing hundreds (possibly thousands) of them, and bringing pain, suffering, and starvation to thousands more?

If you need a rude awakening to the realities of war, go to http://www.thememoryhole.org/ and click the "This is Gulf War II" link, and then the "see more images of civilians" link. (WARNING: EXTREMELY GRAPHIC CONTENT.)

Until then, we'll continue to debate the issue. When I say ALL Iraqis, I mean Sunni muslims, Shiite muslims, ethnic Kurds & Assyrian christians

Do you really think that will ever happen, though? It's rather idealistic, to think all these people who have had ethnic rivalries for countless years will suddenly all join together in a nice happy government.

What you're saying is akin to someone saying "Israel will be fine if it has a government representing ALL its people, with Israelis and Palestinians ruling together!" ... it will never happen in reality, people are just too stubborn with their intense ethnic hatreds.

Of course i'm not saying that America is always right. But then again, we usually are. History proves this time and time again.

You're intensely ignorant of historical fact.

Were we right in Vietnam?

Were we right in Afghanistan? Their country is still in shambles. The government that we set up there just rules the capital city and nothing more; it doesn't have enough power, and doesn't receive enough support from the US or UN to expand its legitimacy to the whole country.

Were we right during the Bay of Pigs?

Were we right during the War of 1812? Our imperialist slogan at the beginning of the war was "Onward to Canada!" By the end of the war, after the UK and US mutually handed each other's asses to each other, our slogan was "No terrority seceded or lost!"

Were we right when the CIA trained Osama bin Laden? The US wasn't happy with the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, so we trained Bin Laden and thousands of other arabs. Back then, we directly aided the Taliban, who were originially just a small militia group, because we thought they would create an environment that would be more stable for business investments.

Were we right when the US government backed Iraq and Saddam throughout the 80's, when Iraq was at war with Iran? We gave Saddam military assistance and sold him large quantities of weaponry. After the Iran-Iraq war ended in 1989, Saddam was greatly in debt and this is one reason he launched the oil-motivated attack on Kuwait.

The point being, the US is to blame for some of Saddam's current power. We very much helped create this situation, because the US has a very bad habit of meddling in affairs of other nations due to our imperialist foreign policy.

The US government has aided countless evil dictators in foreign countries as long as it suits our interests. Other times, we topple dictators to install democratic governments that survive for only a matter of years, later being toppled by a coup because the US didn't provide sufficient aid to maintain the government that we installed.

If you truly think we're "liberating" the Iraqi people, I find that rather naive.

If Canada continues to air dead American soldiers & make light of our POWs on their T.V. stations we have every right to pull out of NAFTA and put strict tariffs on Canadian goods.

Clearly you have no conception of freedom of speech or freedom of the press.

The showing of POW's is in bad taste and also a clear violation of Geneva. However, it is not against Geneva for a news station to carry it. That guy is a pure and simple communist, ie, right-wing conservative. They don't believe in American values and the foundations on which this country was made. They care about profit, looking good, and bullying everyone to do what they think is right, no matter how wrong it is. I say we burn that communist to the ground or ship him over to Iraq where he'd be in a government more suitable to his beliefs.

You brought up a lot of valid points Evan. Very worthwhile to read an intelligent argument. Whether you're of my view or not. That's how an argument is presented, not with innuendo, rumor, and propoganda.

1. I gave fair warning

2. The web site isn't awful. *War* is awful. The web site just shows it how it is.
