I understand, that's why I have no problem shutting it down to let these sometimes long spells pass ;)

Here's the down leazy:



Unfortunately, the 5 times I've called Road Runner in the past 2 weeks wasn't enough times for them to figure out the real problem. However, after this last time, the tech man tells me that I have 40% packet loss. We disconnected my computer from the router just to be certain it wasn't the router, and of course, it's not. I'm more than willing to bet, MORE THAN WILLING, that this was the problem from the beginning.



Unfortunately still, it's Friday. Being that they don't do technician calls on the weekend, the soonest anyone can get out here to "fix the problem" as they call it, or "Replace my goddamn modem" as I like to call it, is Monday. The BBS will be up, but I can't garuntee it won't lag. It shouldn't have constant lag if it does lag, just spots here and there.



That's the best I can do until monday.. Again, I'm sorry..and I hope to get this problem figured out as soon as possible. Now that I have the router disconnected, I can feel all the same lag everyone else does. So theres even more of an incentive to get this solved.

whats goin on now? it hasnt come back up since cleanup

Well im with SBC and when my internet goes down and my friend down the block doesnt, I bitch about loosing money because my website is down. They get right on it lol

It's back up..to be quite honest, I'm not 100% sure what the probelm entails, but I know it was a btrieve open error 20 on 3 different files.



I didn't do anything to fix it, just brought the BBS up..so hopfully nothing breaks until I can talk to one of my fellow mud/wg colleagues. (sp?)

That happened to me once in awhile. A lot of the time it would do it for a few days no matter what, then just stop and run smoothly. I don't know if there's an absolute fix to it, but most of the time just manually setting it back up works fine. The last time it happened, I had to reboot to get it to come back online.

Why must the most drastic and absurd questions be asked? I believe Plat took it down due to lag earlier (had to be him, cuz it wasn't me).

lol..nah not metro. It was lagged really bad and wouldn't stop so I took it down..it's back up now though, only til it starts acting up again..they said the line extension should be balanced within a day or 2.

Heh, so I was gonna script from work for a day.. but I can't seem to remember my password. :(
