I agree zan.... ipods are kind of pointless. Only 5% of the time they are useful. I see them more as a fad. Now the thing that I think is more useful is sirius radio... i think that is the one that you can take from your car and plug into a boombox type thing. Now that is commercial free radio will a crap load of stations. I find that a little more useful than an mp3 storage, for one fact. Sirius radio you can listen to bands you might not have heard before... I am always seeking the new... the latest.... I am always searching for music I might really dig. My mp3s get "old" after a while. Mp3s just don't provide the on demand change, new, never heard before stuff. Why would I d/l a band I know nothing about and never heard before? That is what radio is for... and when yu have something like sirius radio or xm then it gives you more than what local radio stations can provide... I mean look at howard stern... he made the move.. and a very wise move indeed. As for blackberries.. the only people I know who have them... use them... my boss and his league of uppers. They travel a lot.. and need to have all those goodies... but I would never get a blackberry... shit I don't even own a cell phone.. no one calls me... it would be pointless.

I have a Motorola E815 it's a 1.3mp camera phone, video camera, and mp3 player, however I found I can also play full length DVD movies, it has a 128 mb trans-flash card and can take upto 512 mb, on the 128 I can put 4-2hr movies.
Plus it's a cell phone....
Ipod, I have no use for something that only has one purpose, my cell does everything, and then some.

I have a bad feeling Ill be getting a blackberry type device (depending on upcoming legislation)soon from work. I am trying to avoid it like the plague. I already have 1 cellphone (sometimes 2 when im on call) and a laptop from them. The next move might be a cot in the back of the data center room for me. Yes I do love my job but I love leaving out the door everyday at 4pm and rarely getting called at night.

i don't want to think about how crappy quality 32MB 2 hour movies are...

You made that up!

Yeah, the ipod is sinful...
Now the thing that I think is more useful is Sirius radio...

They both play music on demand.
They both (ipod software) introduce you to a new world of music.
They can both be played in cars and houses
The Ipod does ALOT MORE
The satellite systems are a bad way to deliver music to the listener. Not only do corporations control what gets played on it, they use cheap technology - AND YOUR PAYING FOR IT.
Your choices of content for MP3s are so vast, the include EVERYTHING EVER PLAYED on Sirius. The power of the internet is a no-holds-bared arena for ANYONE to produce unregulated content. The mp3 is just a way to exchange it.
How can the limitly controled satellite ever be anything good ever?

Actually I stole the 5% from zan. But i would rather have the sirius radio than a freakin ipod... no d/l time... sirius radio also is useful for those who still do not own computers or dont have an easy way to d/l mp3s.
Re: ipod mini 4gb, good deal? [Archive] - ForumsHQ
yea i'd have to agree with a.a, an mp3 player will always be better than a glorified monthly-fee radio.
