actually he's one of my best friends ... and if you read his post ("You're about to do the first quest on a fresh board. Your internet drops. You want that 150k. What do you do? What do you do?"), he only did it because we were in the middle of questing and he wanted to get his exp. all he had to do was hold the connection while everyone walked, typed a few commands at the end, and then logged off until his connection came back. that's called using your brain to get something done, it has nothing to do with having a life.
Agreed. And I watched more of the AFC Championship game than I did of mud. Oh please forgive me for playing mud while sitting on my ass anyway. I'm not going to lie, I have an addiction. I just don't post on a forum talking about majormud and claim anything but....

What software is on that? You stated that you can SSH with that?
Is the browser a WAP browser or true browser? You ever try surfing to "real" webpages with it?
I'm half-heartedly looking for something like that. Cross between a PDA and Laptop.
I'd prefer something more along the lines of a (very small) laptop since I can use USB to hook it up to my cell for internet access w/o paying extra fees, but who knows.. just exploring what's out there.

The OS software is proprietary, but they run j2me on it and have open system calls so end users can develop without knowledge of the platform. SSH - yeah, that's how I was into Morbid. Telnet has a bug in it that makes it not play well with large ANSI banner screens, so I had to SSH into a 3rd party shell to telnet out.
To be honest, I couldn't tell you if it's a WAP browser or normal, but I'd be leaning towards the latter. I've loaded many a "real" webpage and they work well. The browser rescales images and keeps links *relatively* near where they were on the actual page. What ends up happening is the http req does out, through the web_router, web_router gets html data, parses what it can to make it more mini-friendly, then passes the info down to the device.
A mix between a PDA and a laptop? This isn't what's you're looking for. A mix between a cell phone and a PDA? That's what this is.

Yeah, who said anything about coding? The developer site has all the news about what programs there are, as well as what to download. Don't worry, you can continue to be lazy and NOT help ;-)

fyi, for all of you non-technically inclined
developer=coder (or you can stretch it to designer, but we're talking the most common technical definition)
SDK=software development kit=coding.
Good day, sirs.
:-p
