BUT the problem with this is the exp charts will inevitably become unimportant because the balance created by races/classes which have 0% exp cost are basically negated. Just something to think about. A fairer way to reach 2x exp would be to multiply monster experience. I know you're not that interested in it, but it keeps the balance of the game intact more than fiddling with charts.

i don't think that holds true if you only subtract the % from the classes. races will hold the same weight and as long as you aren't subtracting more than 80% (thief) off classes, they're all be adjusted evenly. i could be wrong, but that's how i put it together in my brain.

It would be "of the total"

For instance, if normally it takes me 1000exp to reach level 1 on a 100% exp chart. I kill a monster worth 100exp; I am then 10% of the way to my level. But, if my exp chart were 50%, meaning I need 500exp to reach level 1, and then I killed a monster worth 100exp, I would be 20% of the way to my level. Consequently, each monster, though it is giving a normal level experience, is worth to my character 200% its normal value. Consequently 2x.

Actually (damn no nerd smiley) the 0 races negate themselves either way since they don't add exp one way or another. And an easy way to figure out how much of an exp chart to give someone would be to do this:

Exp chart #

--------------

X (where X is the amount of multiplication of the exp you want)

for both races and classes, since they add together to become your exp chart

Also, just multiplying monster exp is a BAD idea, case in point is the last time morbid opened up, and we had a mage get from level 80ish (where the exp table rolled over) to what was it legolas? 130 something in a month?

i think i see what you may have been trying to get at. after adjusting classes to .33 of the total, i noticed how close they all are. warriors and witchunters are only 10% apart (as opposed to 30% normally). this is why i did (class exp chart - 30), e.g. 220% = 190%. that way they still have the same exp % gap between each other. since you guys are correct about calculating the mon multi equivalent, i have no idea what -30% would be equivalent to.

well it would vary per class actually, and whether they're "that close" it wouldn't matter either since it's still the same as doubling the exp rate. Think about it in mathematical terms on the higher levels, I think you'll follow it then, since that's all multiplying exp is for is getting there faster, technically, when you get to the higher levels, you'll wind up with the same difference in exp, just have to get to a higher level to see it.

In my opinion exp %s mean jack. Level exp rolls @ 40 billion, and rolls every 40 billion. +/- 2-3 billion. Take a look @ your exp calc you added into nightmare ;) A 5% exp chart (50 exp to lvl) rolls at lvl 140ish, while a normal 100% exp chart rolls about lvl 100. Basically, with the exp rolling, once you get past lvl 80-90 and the charts start rolling, your exp table doesn't mean as much. I'd say even out classes and stick everyone @ 100% exp if you plan on having tons of levels :)

you wouldn't compare charts to see it, you'd compare time levelling, and as you can see, btwn 200 to 100 it's still 1/2, just like what 2x'ing the exp would do

Yeah..all you do is take the chart % and divide it by 3, that is the equivalent of it being 3x..like they said, if your exp chart is 3 times smaller (divided by 3), 1 point of experience means 3 times as much as it used to.. ;)

I voted the last b/c it's the same as 3x monexp, but it doesn't roll the charts as quick!
