When my IE was screwed up a month or two ago, I'd tried Mozilla and let me tell you.. it blows. It doesn't run as fast, half the shit doesn't work right w/o getting a plug-in, and even after that, it sometimes doesn't work properly.



I was sooo glad to have figured out my IE problem, because I like IE much more after trying Mozilla. In short, IE > Mozilla

dude if you only knew the information that IE reports to microsoft every once-in-awhile. well... i don't know but, it's something that they don't have the priveledge to know, that's for dang sure.



also, IE only works on M$ operating systems. Mozilla works on everything. also, Mozilla is open source and is continually being worked on. IE has a shitty component for FTP, and it comes with no plugins as well, in case you forgot when you first got it :P. I've never had any problem installing any Mozilla plugins



the only reason IE starts up faster on a windows box is because it's part of the OS man... of course it's going to be fast. it's damn crazy that mozilla got so fast, and that's why i'm :ehh:

the only problem i'm having with it, after using it extensively, is the fact that it will freeze sometimes when i JUST complete an online order. it will be at the page where it says "Print this out for your records" and when I print it will crash. it could be printing altogether from firebird, i'm really not sure, because that's the only time i print.



other than that, i have no complaints about this browser. they released a new version recently, 0.7 that's really cool and fixed some of the things I wanted fixed about 0.6. the main thing i wanted fixed was the fact that i could use the mouse scroller, but it wouldn't switch to fast-scroll when i pressed the middle button. that's fixed with 0.7. i LOVE the tabs, i think that's a HUGE improvement over 100 open windows is to have 1 instance of firebird with 100 tabs. i think it's really handy

Tabs are definitely the way to go. Especially when you can middle-click to open that link in a new tab, which you can have default to the foreground OR background... You can't beat that :)



And for the loading stuff - don't use Mozilla, people, use Firebird. Mozilla is news, mail, inet, dishwashing, etc... compare apples and apples.



The only problems I ever notice are JavaScript errors that work in IE because M$ decided to make their own special standards (common coding mistakes they fix for you - this autocorrect in Word. And it's about that accurate, too.

Hmm, if one makes the switch over to a different browser then it would render IE completely obsolete. That being the case, is there anyway to just remove IE from windows completely? I can't understand why Windows doesn't even have an option for the user to not install IE when installing the OS. It's completely ridiculous.



I prefer not to have IE take up space on my HD if I don't plan on using it regardless of how big or small IE might be.

i've come across this question before, unfortunately i think the concensus was that it's required by windows, it cannot be removed. there have been people who have tried and just screwed up their OS because of it...



also, windows explorer is supposedly part of internet explorer, and that's required for viewing folders and what have you.
