That case was settled for $2,000. Apparently they had some clout behind it or the mother wouldn't have settled.

or she didn't want to run the risk of a much costlier civil litigation and possible criminal charges on her daughter, if there are any that could be applied. (They could charge her with a few including distributing stolen property, etc.)
