Yeah that was a very COOL system. I'm still at work, when I get home I mare links and shit like that of super overclocking. I have one where this guy took a PII-400 and OC'd it to 1200Mhz he had the entire mobo sitting in a Freezer. Which got me to thinking and I am currently working on building a case that is a freezer.



The only thing I have to worry about is making sure the optical drive & the hard / floppy drives dont go below freezing otherwise I'm FUBAR.



I already have the micro freezer unit. Basically what I did was I took all the shit from a Apt. size freezer and made it smaller (except the pump :( ) When I get pix I'll up load em.

Wow, its been a long time since i seen an oil cooled PC. I remember a few years back when they first started doing that shit. Its actually a good concept and the oil itself doesnt cost an "assload". It just not common knowledge that that can be done. I personally read [H]ard|OCP and they had a great write-up on one of these units some time back.

the reason that this works is that some oils are not conductive, unlike water, that's why you take a risk with liquid cooled cases, oil is probably a better idea, it's going to run warmer than if it were in water, oil will boil at a lower temp than water will, be warned that if you buy one of these cases that you must use the oil that's called for, probably something special that cost's an assload, i could be wrong though



Dumb thing for me to point out, but water isn't itself conductive. It's only when you add electrolytes to it that it becomes conductive. Pure water is an insulator.

Pure water still contains minerals, What you really want is de-mineralized water usually called distilled water, as it it very hard for metal particles to be suspended in steam (yeah I know I'm gonna get a no shit)

Actually, distilled water IS (usually) pure water. Or close enough to it. It's water that's gone through a process called "distillation". There are other ways to get pure water, so all pure water isn't distilled :) And actually, not all distilled water is pure -- it depends on the equipment and other factors. De-mineralized water falls under the same rules -- it has to have had it's minerals removed. And more often than not, de-mineralized water IS distilled. And yes, I know I'm an anal assface...



And I'm a tool, too -- of course water is NOT a good insulator. I don't know what the fuck I was thinking. It's a great conducter, just of heat and not electricity (again, pure water). The actual number for conductivity for water is something like 3 ppm (inorganic material). Sorry for my goof up.
