Go with a Unix based system is what I say, Winblows is getting out of control, but that's a whole different story...



Ok, now to the main point:



I spent 6 years in the military, and needless to say, hadn't played MUD in as many years (more, actually.) It would seem it's lost its client base, or a portion of it anyway, and as such, no one wants to pay-to-play, as I've gathered from these replies. That's fine, seeing the state of BBS's these days, I wouldn't want to either (by this I mean, based on the descending popularity of these dying creatures)...



So what I'm going to do is retract the costs to the users, so yes, it's free... and suck up my expenses (wasn't much anyway). I used to pay $20/Month to play on the BBS I "grew up on", so it's just the way the world works I guess, not the same anymore. I just still love MUD, and Twars... I was just naive about the current MUD situation.



So stop by and check the place out, now that there's no cost.



P.S., some people took what I said in the "Why pay...?" section to offense... I had no intention of doing that, guys, I apologize if it was interpreted that way... no harm meant.

When I first dicovered MMud I did pay. Very little and it was a LONG time ago. Then I discovered MMB and started playing again. :D

I only payed once for a MUD. I sent in a 12 bucks to a sysop for 3 months and he said he never got it, the fuck! after that I was like FUCK pay boards and the assholes that run them. Granted I shouldve used a money order but I was like 12 at the time. I was still in that fantasy mindset where people were trustworthy.



I havent been back to a pay board since then. That was 11 years ago.

I have to give it to FireControl, though, he's very well spoken....

FireControl, you're posting on the wrong board if you want to gather users on a pay mud or even a non-edited mud for that matter. Go advertise on mudcentral and offer them a month or two free so those newbies there can get hooked, so to speak.

Pay boards are lame......if you want money, and your users think that your bbs is worth it they will donate money to your cause!
