Alot of things matter actually



1. Some mobo's cant run the higher speed RAM

2. Depending on what kinda memory it is (dimm, sdram etc) you have to have them in pairs so in sense you have to have two sticks of the same kind of memory

3. Some mobo's only use certain kinda of memory. Like, you can only use sdram and not dimms etc



Where did you get all of this memory and if its from other computers youve owned, what cpu speed were thay and how old are the computers

I was handed about 10 sticks from at work, where they horde all their old and unused computer eq. I had to test it all myself for size, and nobody knew what speed they were..told me I'd have to find that out myself too...Was hoping at least one of them was a 128..but most are 32 with only 5 64 chips.

Usually a company will give them back to the company that makes their computers and if they still work, put those into the new computers. That way the company doesnt have to rebuy memory, they just re-use the old

I always thought with the older ram chips, not rdram or ddr ram, that if you mixed two diff speeds the mobo always clocked all the chips at the lowest speed of the mix. So mixing a 133 and 100 ram chip would make the mobo clock to 100.

I don't believe you're able to mix and match speeds, at least from what I've heard and learned. The easiest way to check would be to toss a couple of them chips in the mobo and power it up, I would think. Course there's really no way, as Syn said, to determine the speed of the ram without a memory tester. If you go to a computer store they might just be nice and test it for u, no?

hehehe they MIGHT be nice but generally its too much of a hasle for them. The tests that they do arent 100% accurite so they have to do two or three different kinds of tests on them.



For the most part, older sticks have to be placed in pairs, also it depends on the mobo what speed memory you can have in your comp. Besides, if it does work, why would you wanna put in a 133 and a 100 together, both at most would be working at 100 and not to mention the errors you would most likely get

Make them into keychains and sell em to the local nerd kids. I've got an old ram chip on my keyring. ;)
