so apart from regestering the www domain name i also have to register my dns server?

if you put your server and your ip in that box then you would need to set up dns on your computer so that you can do your own dns'ing. that screen looks like it's asking for a name server, not for a dns pointer like i was talking about earlier.

i have dns installed, is there anything in particular that i need to setup in order for me to use this?

if you are setting up your own nameserver, register the nameserver and put that info into that box.



if you aren't put whatever namesever you are using there...



whatever way you do it, the nameserver you use needs to have zone records for your domain so it can handle it.

ahhh what zone? forward or reverse?

what OS are you using? If you are using *nix + BIND, I can help you... otherwise you're out of luck. I don't fool with windows servers.



There are a few steps you have to go through



setup apache for the domains

setup BIND

setup zones

setup reverse ip lookups for nameservers

register nameservers

point domain to the nameservers

im using windows 2000 server, i swear this is the most fuckedup thing i have ever used.

are you using IIS or apache?
