I was able to connect about an hour and a half later. Talked to Relorian, he was using the dns address to connect, and no problem, I got the IP from him and was going to try that, but bingo boingo I connected again. I guess it must've been something wrong with my connection at work, though it's been nothing but reliable. shrug I dunno

ok am I wrong in thinking that 123.456.789.00 is an IP?

grin, I was trying to make a point, but it went over peoples heads. Everyone's always getting bent out of shape about posting an IP, when you can simply ping the dns or tracert it.

open a ms dos prompt, type ping (telnet addy) or tracert (telnet addy)

yeah that is wrong actually. no value can be more than 255
