if you install cygwin you can compile and execute this program in a terminal window in windows 2k, i would assume.

but its much easier to telnet to a linux box, and install the program remotely

the source is at www.sourceforge.net/gqmud

you can download the tarball version from a week ago, but we are adding stuff daily, so the CVS repository is the best way to get updates

as i understand it some people would like a terminal based majormud client but would like it to run in win32? ill look into that.. aside from the terminal library and signal handlers it should be fully portable

benifits to running the software from a remote machine include running multiple characters stealthily (from different ips) and of course it's OS independant.

i will be running a shell server when we release beta which our testers (anyone who uses the CVS repository) who have a registered account on our test machine will be able to use to run the program. im estimating at 256M ram we should be able to host at least 40 simultaneous logins all running one copy of the application, perhaps more as we optimize

I use linux. in fact, out of all my machines not a single one of them runs windows. even my laptop runs *nix. Hey Chris, if you need any help as far as beta testing goes for that project, pm me. I'm definetly interested. I'm tired of running wine for megamud. wine is a piece of SHIT.

Yeah, you run linux..but most mudders, 9 out of 10, don't.

These programs suck for us..sigh.
