Abaddon,

if you have a large enough following and need some place to discuss the program, tell xetox to create a section for you on MMB. :cheesy:

Hey, thanks to everyone who responded in email and on this thread. Sorry for the slow replies, I have been a little short on time lately. I am hoping to get things going this weekend though. Since several of you have asked to try out the program, I thought it would be a good idea to setup an IRC channel or something so that everone can come together. Forums might be a little too slow and cumbersome for quick trial and error type stuff.

AdmiralAcid, If your friend is running OSX it would most likely be possible for them to use my program. There is something out there called 'Fink' that allows a large number of Linux programs to be used on that platform. It wouldn't be as easy to install and run as a typical mac program, but it would probably not be too tough if they have some *nix experience.

Also, thanks for the offers guys, I will definately not want to host this from my ISP if it takes off. :)

Any linux program will compile in any version of linux with the right libraries.

OK, I've got the beta packaged and ready to go. I have setup an IRC channel on the freenode network. To get there, connect to irc.freenode.net and join the #MudPRO channel. My nick is Khamsin, I'll DCC you the package and help you get started. If you are new to Linux, I recommend using the XChat IRC client.

Speed is right, with the proper libs installed, Linux progs should be able to compile on BSD in most cases. Besides the standard stuff, my program requires GTK+ 1.2.x, GNOME 1.4, Berkley DB version 3 or 4, and PCRE (perl-compatible regular expressions) 3.x.
