Actually, you do get the stat bonus in K. You're looking at the old textblock, #220. Check out Map 1 room 525. The textblock for that room now points to textblock 4701, which is what gives the stat bonuses if you have the chalice. In 1.11L you can ask the bishop 'return' to go to the same textblock. But yeah, you no longer get the bonus for just touching the gem.
