Well uhh..I kinda have a foot in at the local hospital. Friends mom is the HEAD of the tech support department. They start at $13/hr(level 1, lowest level tech support), but I need my MCP..I just figured I could get a job starting at $9/hr untill another position opened up at the hospital.

9-10 dollars an hr you guys are shootin low.. you must not live in a tech area. I live near dc and I make 15 an hour with no experience to start, now I have almost 2 years experience, my a+, working on net+ and college. To sum up, move, find a better job.

Move, find a better job, pay more money for standards of living. It's all relative to your location. If I were to move to the DC area I'd pay way more than I pay here, thus making my $10/hr job w/ no experience the same as your $15/hr job w/ no experience.

I pay just as much for rent and expenses here than I did in michigan, so shrug.. perhaps you don't always know everything =p

You live *IN* dc, or within 20 miles from DC, and pay the same as you did in Michigan? How'd you manage that one? You either got a real good deal that nobody else knows about, or you live in a ghetto. If you live more than 20 miles away from DC and work in DC, you must have a horrible drive to work every day. Just rent in DC is mainly over a grand for a one bedroom.

Hes got alot of congressmen whos assistants (fresh out of college etc) make 15-20 an hr but the cost of living is fing high that they all rent the same flat to save cost

DC is one of the highest standards of living in the US. I think (not sure) it's just a step behind New York City. A 1 bedroom apartment on average is over a grand. Add $300-500 per bedroom on top of that. That shit is CRAZY. It's $600 for a one bedroom and between $700-800 for a two bedroom around here, in the nicer areas.



If he lives 20+ miles out of DC, he may be able to get a decent deal. He then has to drive into DC every day, which is one hell of a drive through all that traffic every day. That's so not worth it. I'll keep my $10/hr job.

ny is way higher than dc. a two bedroom in brooklyn/manhattan i know is well over 2 grand.

Hrm, you guys are right I don't really live here, refer to my origional post for WHERE I live, and no I don't work in DC. I never said I did, you don't have to work in dc to get a good tech job. I drive 1/2 an hour to work every day, 24 miles, w/a decent mileage car which I have thats 2 gallons a day. Rent down here is 600 dollars/month for a 2 bedroom 2 bath new apartment(the "hood" apartments are all subsidized at like 230 a month and no I don't live in those, or near those) Why you are all arguing about my advice I don't know, you are all theorizing on something you don't really know. Shrug, you are welcome to think what you want to, fact remains I have a higher paying job than those of you w/10/hr, comparable or better living space, a nice traffic free drive to work. And I can sit here and laugh at you guys at work all day!

They are pointing out things in your suggestion to help Brunt. That's what this thread is supposed to be about.
