I'd pay if:

A: ALL UPDATES ARE FREE

B: It wasn't overpriced. It's a damn program for a computer that you're asking me to pay for. I can get it hacked, so don't try and charge me too much or I will.

C: If it worked right and wasn't just another POS. I'd like to see user-customizable items, monsters, races, classes, etc. in game data, for new items that new mods bring..I don't want to have to wait for someone to code it, if my program adds something automatically, I'd like to tell it what it's stats are so the program isn't doesn't flip.

And - Merlin was offered cash for it, he refused.

Last I heard, he was offered $100. His licenses go for $45 a pop, thats two licenses. He would need to be offered over $5000, maybe more.

$5000 dollars for a source code?

Anyone who would pay that is stupid..that's insane.

$45 is way overpriced, and he wonders why people cracked it? He did about the same (well, in all honesty probably less) work than Syntax has done on NMR, do we get charged for NMR? Naw..programming these things doesn't cost money, nor does it cause for you to charge an ungodly amount. Be reasonable..that's rediculous..I can understand some payment, but $45 is just...*screams*

Plat, you are entirely correct. $45 is way too much for the license. $5000 is way too much for the source code. I'm just saying how much it would take to get Merlin to perk up and shell out the source code. $5000 is 111 licenses. He's sold way more than that, and he probably still sells two or three a month. I don't think it is worth it to buy the license or the source code. I'm just sayin what it would take.

Actually, last I was told, Merlin is going to update the databases to the newest release. (He talks with Erekose in email) From there, there hasnt been any talk of actually fixing any bugs in the program or anything.

Tru..but if he still makes money off it, why not update? He's a dumbass for being mad it was cracked..anyone who makes a pay-program should expect that. I don't get people these days. If I made ANY money off of doing stuff on a computer in my own time that I owned at my rate, I'd be happy.

It would take under two minutes to update the databases if he was a worthwhile coder. Hell, he could simply export the databases with nightmare and then import them straight into Megapud, if he had a decent importing function. It wouldn't even take that long to write one if he didn't. That bastard needs to get off his ass cause he's got competition coming now.

Evan has the best business practices I have ever seen with his Doormud. Metro, Merlin, and Locke could learn a lot from him.
