Open the case and look on the motherboard. It'll be stamped on there somewhere.

Why not have him just reboot the computer and tell you what bios it is? I've never seen a computer that doesn't display it at bootup. That's what your trying to get at, isn't it? Taking the case off seems like a lot of work when he could just reboot the machine.

-edit-

Reboot your machine. Some machines allow the pause button to be used, some don't. Hit pause every time you see something new come up. Anything with the word BIOS next to it, remember. Your video card and motherboard both have a bios that it should display. It'l say something like AWARD MODULAR BIOS #.# for a version number.

Come to my house and watch my bbs computer reboot... it doesn't tell you. It's a Dell, it just has the dell screen up when it's posting.

depending on the motherboard, there at least two ways to enter the bios

f2,del..im sure theres more but as right now i cant remember.

I suggest saving whatever is important, run a pyhsical scan using scandisk on the drive, then if no errors are reported,

re-install reinstall windows.

During those five reboots that you have encountered, something might of not loaded correctly or installed.

If nothing is fixed, go ahead and reformat and try it anew.

One last piece of advice, once you get the info on your computer, find out if it can actually support ME..also make sure you have enough memory and cpu speed
