Maybe it has something shorting out in the case.

Make sure that the ram is all secure and try to blow all the dust out of it.

When it is having this problem try flipping it upside down or on its side and see if it powers on that way.

Yeah stupid might have something there with checking to make sure the memory is seated properly. I had a machine that did practically the same thing... you'd turn it on, get that first beep but it would never post. Turned out that I just needed to reseat one of the memory chips. I still think the BIOS chip might be worth checking into as well.

If you are getting some lights and a beep, then the case could be shorting out. Did you build this PC? or was it built for you?



try pulling everything out of it. cables and all, and reseating everything, also check the screws holding the MB in the case. Some MB need to have a little cardboard washer between the MB and the screws to keep from shorting.



Also, 2 things that have cause similar issues with me. HD cable bad (I know it is odd, but it has happened to me.) and the Case connectors (HD light, Turbo light, power switch, et al...) are connected improperly, or there is dust interfering with the connections.



Immproper Memory chips for the MB could also be a culpret.



Lastly, I'd check the BIOS Chip, I've seen them go bad, but that is very rare (at least in my observations) and when they do go bad, they usually don't work sometimes, and not others.

First off, how long did you have it before it started to fuck up..

Even if it was a long time, the reason the monitor could of been outside was because the owner didnt know how to dispose of it properly so he just left it out there.

Now a days, shops wont touch monitors and neither will the company that makes them. Quite possibly, its something inside the monitor or the cable its self..Check the pins on the monitor connection to see if one is bent or broken.



It really doesnt sound like a comp problem but more like the monitor.

Checked RAM..it's in right..



HISTORY OF THE PC



Baught it roughly a year ago..maybe a little more. Worked great for a while, then get a bad virus where windows wouldn't load..the pc would turn on, then just stop loading. I FDISK'd the PC (which also formats it), then installed windows 98 on it, then installed windows Me on it. I took the CD-ROM out of it to put into another computer so I could burn cd's and put a shitty CD-ROM into it while I wasn't using it..however, the PC wouldn't recognize the CD-ROM, so I put the old one back in and it worked fine. I havent used it much at all, as it has a pretty shitty video card which won't allow me to run many games at all, and the Monitor was also fucked up, and I got the new one for it (explained above). Once I got the new monitor for it, I started to try to use it a little more but it started to do mess up like that...



I baught it already built from some PC store..circuit city maybe..best buy..hell if i know:-p Anyway..I think I might have found out why it was how it was..the inside was a bit dusty..mainly the fan areas, however the "holes" for air to get out were still feasable. I "dusted" it as best I could while turned off, then after that it turned on first try.
