I usually help answer questions posted here, now you can give a little help back to me :D having issues with my car audio setup and i tried askin everyone but nobody knows so heres my post from saturnspot:
Car Audio Power Loss
I'll try and explain the situation as best as possible, havent slept in about 24 hours, but heres the deal:
I own a 2001 Saturn SL1 and over the past year i've been running 2x 12" Infinity Reserve subs powered by a Precision Power PCX-280 amp. Well about 4 months ago i noticed a severe lack of power going to the subs. they would sound very distorted and just "BLAH" in general. I thought i may have blown a channel in the AMP so i purchased a new AMP. Same issue. If i connect each sub independently to either channel its sounds fine, but when paired it looses all power. Any advice would be great. I can be found on Trillian/Aim as JumpinCactus242.
Specs:
2001 Saturn SL1 (manual)
Aiwa CDCMP3 Deck
Rockford Fosgate 2 Gauge power wire
Rockford Fosgate "Monster Wire" for speakers
Dual 12" Infinity Reserve Series Subs
Precision Power PC2400 "Power Class" Amp
POST 2:
I must be stumping anyone who checks this topic because havent seen many responses. OK FINE. Here is what i've checked today so far trying to get this fixed:
New RCA Cable (ineffective)
Different CD Deck (ineffective)
Replace Speakers (ineffective)
File down area where ground is located and file down ground connector (ineffective)
Check Blow fuse by battery (ineffective)
Replace AMP(ineffective)
This is really starting to piss me off.

Re: ATTN: Car audio Techs
check the subs.. also watch your battery level in your car, if it dips your alternator may be going on ya. if your alternator is going it WILL disrupt your sound system.
Re: ATTN: Car audio Techs
Ive checked and double checked the subs, as for the alternator thats been mentioned to me before but it ran fine for the longest time w/o an issue till i blew my old amp.
Re: ATTN: Car audio Techs
Infinity are decent subs, have you contacted them? they may have heard of the problem before and offer tips to help you. You seemed to check everything else and I am out of ideas.
USUALLY when its muffled and shit like you said it means they aint getting power and something somewhere is fucked. you tested the seperatly so you know they arent blown. id call infinity and ask them or check thier webpage maybe they have a support section. Its worth a shot

Re: ATTN: Car audio Techs
it depends on how you have the bridged to the amp... I suggest getting a CLASS D amp by MTX.... 650D is way powerful enough.... as I run a 500D with an output of around 900watts at 2 ohms...

***UPDATE***
Taken from Saturnspot.com
Mike 94sc2 was right, when those f00k sticks at American replaced the speaker in my box they reveresed the + and - so it was wired wrong internally and then i hooked it up like it was and it scrambled everything! THANKS PEEPS FOR YOUR ADVICE! Didnt mean to sound bitchy but this was ongoing for 5 months now.
